About the Butterfly Bureau
Small details. Bigger questions. A public that deserves answers.
We are an independent, volunteer run investigative media project following evidence through corruption, trafficking networks, abuse of power, and the institutions that fail the people they should protect.
Follow the evidence. Make it accessible.
Important information should not stay buried in scattered court filings, forgotten archives, or documents that ordinary people have neither the time nor the tools to untangle. We connect records, explain their context, and help readers check the sources for themselves.
Our work brings together public records research, open source investigation, media analysis, and storytelling. Survivor respect and transparent sourcing guide how we approach the material.
Trace the connections
We examine court records, financial relationships, institutional decisions, and historical evidence to understand how power operates and where accountability breaks down.
Open the case file
We turn complicated material into reporting people can follow, with context, source trails, and a clear distinction between findings, allegations, and unanswered questions.
Keep the record visible
Research is easier to build on when its sources remain organized. Our work connects readers with archives, investigative resources, and the people doing the digging.
Why a butterfly?
A flight log. A photograph. A timestamp. A financial transfer. A witness statement. Investigations often begin with something small enough to overlook.
The butterfly reflects that attention to small details and the larger questions they can open. A clue gives us a place to start. Documents, context, and verification determine where it leads.
Butterfly Bureau and EpsteinWiki give readers two ways into this work: investigative reporting and an organized reference archive. Together, they help readers explore the story and examine its source trail.
Go deeper into the records.
Follow a story into the reference archive, or examine the documents behind the reporting. These resources give curious readers a place to begin their own research.
Meet the sleuths. Follow the work.
This work takes patience, persistence, and people willing to read the fine print. Butterfly Bureau is independently operated and entirely volunteer run. Visit the sleuth directory to meet the researchers, explore their work, and find their individual channels and support links.
Curiosity comes with responsibility.
We cover exploitation networks, corruption, political and financial influence, information operations, media narratives, and institutional failures. These subjects require careful sourcing and restraint.
Evidence and context
We check sources and distinguish documented facts from allegations, disputed accounts, and investigative questions. An appearance in a record does not, by itself, establish wrongdoing.
Survivor respect
We avoid sensationalism, victim blaming, harassment, and unnecessary graphic detail. Private personal information belongs in reporting only when there is a clear public interest reason.
Editorial independence
Our reporting priorities follow the evidence and public interest. Butterfly Bureau is not funded by political parties, corporations, law firms, intelligence agencies, or advocacy organizations.
Tools and human review
AI and other research tools can assist with organization, transcription, indexing, and analysis. Human review and source verification remain essential to our editorial process.
We are committed to correcting factual errors when credible evidence demonstrates an inaccuracy. If you flag an error, include the article, the specific claim, and supporting source material so it can be reviewed.
